August Newsletter 2021

Perhaps you are attending your son or daughter’s upcoming wedding, maybe seeing dear friends at a class reunion, or flying to visit family after more than a year of staying home. Whatever the special occasion, we all want to look our best. Now that many of us have been vaccinated, the world is opening up. For my wife and me, it is our eldest son’s upcoming wedding in October that got us thinking, planning, and doing a few things to help us look our best in preparation for the big day. In fact, it has become a recurring theme in my practice that people are asking to look refreshed for an event. This should not come as a surprise, since so many of us delayed celebrating together due to the pandemic.
I thought that I would use this monthly news blast to remind all of you to think ahead and time your treatments so that you have enough time to heal and look your very best. For those of you who are new to the practice, it all starts with a consultation with me so that I can understand your concerns and create a customized plan of action. It is also important to have your consultation with enough time to schedule your treatments and, when necessary, heal sufficiently so that you can look naturally beautiful without telegraphing to others what your secret is to looking so refreshed.
For those considering surgery such as an eyelid procedure, facelift, neck lift and/or facial laser skin resurfacing, or even non-surgical neck tightening with Profound RF, you need to plan on at least 6 months of healing to look your best. For cosmetic nasal surgery, plan on at least one year and ideally 18 months to reveal all of the subtle refinement that surgery can achieve. There is no way to rush the healing process; scars need time to mature, subtle persistent swelling needs to dissipate and skin redness following laser resurfacing needs to fade. These time frames are for being picture perfect and event-ready. Of course, you will be able to resume your normal activities within a couple of weeks from your procedure.
If you are considering an Injecta-Lift procedure to reshape, rejuvenate and enhance facial shape using hyaluronic acid fillers to reverse the volume loss that comes with aging or to improve a feature such as your under-eye area, cheeks or chin to look younger and/or more attractive, I recommend doing your procedure at least 3 months before your event.
If you only have a month or so before your big event, I can soften facial expression lines (the “elevens,” crow’s feet, etc.), subtly reshape your face, reduce an excessively gummy smile, even keep your eyes from squinting and getting smaller when you smile with artistically placed Botox treatments. Also, in the last few weeks leading up to your event, I recommend visiting with our aesthetics team for treatments that can plump your skin, such as Aquagold, to minimize fine lines and get you looking red-carpet ready (Oscars anyone?).
The key with any of these treatments is to plan ahead. All too often I am having to tamp down my patients’ enthusiasm to get it “all done” because they simply do not have adequate time to heal and look natural. For me, it is of paramount importance to keep my patients looking totally natural looking, as if they just came back from a fabulous vacation. What you do in my office is our secret, unless of course you want to share with others how the magic was done.
Lastly, I want to invite you to our upcoming Beauty Event: Saturday, September 18th, 9am-5pm, at our Marietta office location, celebrating my 10 years in Marietta. Given the recent uptick in new COVID cases due to the Delta variant, we are going to organize this event differently than our previous events. As an aesthetic facial plastic surgeon, I want the event to be both fun and informative. However, as a physician who cares deeply about the well-being of my staff and patients, I am committed to creating an event that puts health and safety above all else.
There will be four, 1.5-hour sessions, with a limit of 50 guests per session, by RSVP only. All registration, entertainment and food & beverage service will be outside in an open-air tent.
Inside the main lobby, you will be required to wear a mask, just as you currently are in any healthcare facility in Georgia, to protect you and those around you.
Inside the main entrance and welcome area, the vendor-educators will be set up at tables spaced widely apart. Kelly Houmand, PA and I will be doing mini-consultations (again, please call to schedule your mini-consultation, though walk-ups will be accommodated if space is available). These slots go quickly, so I encourage you to call early if you want a personalized experience. All skin product sales will be inside the Facial Center itself.
As a thank you to all of you for your unwavering support during the last 10 years, swag bags will be given to all of our guests at the event! Lastly, in honor of the 10th Anniversary of Marietta Facial Plastic Surgery, Laser & Aesthetics Center, we will be giving away $20,000 in gifts, including two $5,000 Injecta-Lift Certificates!! I hope to see you all there.
