August Newsletter 2024

From the Corner Office

Revision Skincare has once again recognized our Aesthetics Center as one of its top 30 practices in the United States. With this recognition comes an invitation to their Dallas headquarters for a terrific educational weekend. This year, we sent Nicola Wellner, our Practice Manager and Desiree Hatten, our Aesthetics Coordinator. The event gives us a preview of new products being developed but most importantly, it allows us to learn from and contribute to the collective wisdom of the group to enable us to better serve all of you.

In recognition of the fact that life is expensive and in keeping with our desire to support our community, we are introducing new payment plan options hosted by Cherry, in partnership with Allergan, Inc. This new service will enable patients who are having injectable treatments that use either Botox or the Juvederm family of products to be approved for payment plan options on the spot with only a soft credit check, which does not affect your credit score. Within minutes, Cherry will provide payment plan options, showing applicants several individualized monthly payments and terms. This enables those who prefer to pay over time to do so with a plan that is best suited to their needs.

For those who want to save while enjoying the benefits of my Injecta-Lift procedure or simply touch-up their facial fillers, Allergan has announced their worldwide Juvederm Day, which will be Wednesday, August 21, 2024. On that day, our practice will be offering 10% off all Juvederm products. Space is limited and the treatment must be completed on that day.

In addition, to celebrate the success of their Juvederm products, Allergan is offering their Allē Members the opportunity to purchase one $75 JUVÉDERM® Collection of Fillers gift card and get one FREE (while supplies last). Members can also register and get treated with any product in the JUVÉDERM® Collection of Fillers (treatment must occur by September 30, 2024) to be entered for a chance to win $10,000. Plus, Allē Flash rewards will be supercharged. Members will have the chance to instantly earn up to $500 in additional savings towards their treatment when checking into their appointment with Allē Flash. If you are not yet a member of Allē, I encourage you to register at https://www.alle.com/registration.

Lastly, as regular readers of our newsletters may recall, I spoke about Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) in June. I did not, however, discuss how we will be implementing this new and exciting technology. As a reminder, PRF is derived from the patient’s own blood, similar to Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), but it contains a higher concentration of platelets, leukocytes, and growth factors. This higher concentration of bioactive substances facilitates faster tissue regeneration. Additionally, PRF has a fibrin matrix that acts as a scaffold, providing structural support and enhancing the longevity of the treatments’ effects. Moreover, PRF has a slower release of growth factors compared to PRP, resulting in a more sustained therapeutic effect over time. This prolonged release of growth factors allows for continuous stimulation of collagen production and tissue regeneration, leading to longer-lasting aesthetic improvements.

Starting in September, we will be introducing Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) treatments to our patients. Kelly Houmand, PA-C, will be spearheading this effort, though we will both be providing PRF treatments. I encourage you to read Kelly’s contribution in this month’s newsletter to learn more about what clinical areas we will be treating with PRF, how it will complement our other interventions, and the treatment details of this cutting-edge technology.

From the Aesthetic Team

Hi friends! For those of you I haven’t met yet, my name is Christi Warren and I’m an aesthetician with six years of experience in medical aesthetics who joined the MFP family in February. It has been an honor and a pleasure getting to know so many of you and having the opportunity to care for you. After six months in the practice, it really feels like my professional home thanks to all of you.

I’d like to take this opportunity to discuss a treatment we offer called Sylfirm X. Sylfirm X is an advanced micro-needling treatment that combines pulsed and continuous wave radio frequency (RF) technology. It is the first FDA-approved device of its kind, targeting a variety of skin concerns including melasma, redness, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), scars, skin laxity, hair loss, and enlarged pores.

The procedure uses non-insulated, bi-polar gold microneedles to deliver RF energy into the skin, which helps stimulate collagen production and improve overall skin health. This targeted approach minimizes thermal damage to the skin, reducing downtime and discomfort compared to other treatments.

Patients can expect to see improvement in skin texture and tone, with benefits such as reduced hyperpigmentation, diminished fine lines and acne scars, and firmer skin. If you are having the treatment for hair loss, you can expect improved hair growth, and reduce thinning overtime. The treatment typically involves minimal pain and downtime, making it a convenient option for many.

For optimal results, 3-4 treatment sessions are usually recommended, spaced four weeks apart. Post-treatment care includes avoiding direct sunlight, using high-SPF sunblock, and refraining from harsh skin treatments for several days following your treatment.

To determine if Sylfirm X is the best treatment option for you, I recommend that you schedule a consultation with one of our medical aestheticians. At your consultation, we will review your skin concerns, aesthetic goals and expectations, tolerance for any downtime, and any other relevant issues that might impact our treatment recommendations so that we may create a customized care plan just for you.

From the West Cobb Office

As Dr. Yellin mentioned in his newsletter, we are gearing up to bring platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) injections to the practice. I am very excited, as this will be another great tool to help you on your anti-aging journey. I like to think about PRF as a second-generation PRP. PRP has been a fantastic go-to treatment in my practice for helping patients with hair restoration and improving their outcomes with micro-needling. As with anything in medicine, time has brought about better technology and research. PRF contains a higher concentration of platelets and growth factors, providing superior outcomes. It has a slower release of growth factors which helps to stimulate collagen over time, leading to lasting results.

So, where will I utilize this in a new way in my practice? I will continue to offer injections for hair restoration and microneedling, but now with PRF. In addition, injecting PRF is a great adjunct to HA fillers. While filler provides volume, PRF can be used to improve skin texture and quality. For example, injections of PRF under the eyes are a natural way to treat the darkness and crepey skin there over time. Some patients may only need PRF, while others may need volume replacement with HA fillers and PRF injections to fine-tune and brighten. Other patients may like the idea of only using an autologous product to help with slight revolumization and skin brightening. Most patients will need a series of about three treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart for best results. If this is of interest to you, schedule a consult and I can lead you in the right direction.

Finally, a few updates regarding my schedule. This year I have started working one day a month in the Marietta location, which seems to have helped many of my patients who travel long distances to see me. I will continue to do this until November 1st, when I will be altering my schedule a bit to include Marietta appointments every Wednesday. I will continue to have West Cobb appointments on Thursdays. Hopefully, this will be beneficial to all of my lovely patients!
