Lasers are useful for permanent hair reduction for the face, front and back of neck, arms, underarms, bikini, legs and other areas on the body. This is non-invasive way to remove hair and minimize ingrown hairs. A series of 6 to 8 treatments is required to achieve approximately an 80% reduction in hair. The Coherent, UltraPulse 5000c Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Laser with a 10,600 nm wavelength, is the gold standard for ablative skin resurfacing. Dr. Yellin uses this CO2 laser both in his office and at the surgery center where he operates, to dramatically improve the appearance of facial skin for those with Fitzpatrick skin types I-III (a fair to olive complexion). It instantaneously and 3-dimensionally tightens the facial skin reducing lines, wrinkles and, unwanted brown skin pigment. While over an 18 month period, it dramatically increases the amount of collagen within the skin which keeps the skin youthful looking for a decade or more. Initial healing requires 10 days, after which time the patient may resume normal activities while protecting their skin from the sun until no longer pink, which typically takes several months. Once healed, the effect of CO2 laser skin resurfacing results in a dramatic rejuvenation of the face.
