From the Corner Office

Change is inevitable. It is also what keeps life interesting. At the time of this writing, Nicola Wellner, who has done a wonderful job as our office manager, will have left the practice to pursue bigger dreams and professional challenges. I know that I can speak for the entire team since I read the well wishes on Nicola’s farewell card; she engendered much affection, was deeply appreciated, and will be missed.

With that said, I am grateful to be supported by a team of professionals. Our front office staff is led by Bharti, our aesthetic staff by Amy, our clinical staff by Desiree and Kelly Houmand, PA-C, who oversees our West Cobb Office. All are all experienced leaders in their own right and will continue to maintain the highest professional standards our patients expect and appreciate. We are also fortunate to have support from the Marietta Dermatology administrative staff. Therefore, day-to-day operations should be seamless. I am, however, actively interviewing qualified candidates to replace Nicola and will announce that individual once they have joined our team. If the process of replacing Nicola with a quality manager takes several months, the only thing that may not get done is the monthly newsletter. I assure you that once the new manager is in place, if we had a hiatus, the monthly newsletters will return.

It has been a chilly January and with that, many of us have been spending more time indoors. Also, with the holiday season behind us, the winter months are a very popular time to get a personal aesthetic tune-up, especially procedures that require some downtime and healing such as CO2 laser skin resurfacing or a facelift. Within the last few weeks, I have seen many new patients in consultation who want to get things done “right away.” Many of these want to look their best for a specific upcoming event such as a family wedding, school reunion or a new job. Though well-intentioned, they often forget that we often cannot schedule their procedure(s) immediately, though we try our hardest to accommodate their timelines. They may also not account for the normal healing time required after more invasive procedures, which then bumps up against their event window. So please, if you are wanting to look great for a specific, important event or if you have a window of time that works best for your schedule, I encourage you to see me for a consultation several months in advance. If you have already been given a therapeutic plan and you have decided to move ahead and have a specific date in mind, I encourage you to schedule as much in advance as possible. Even small, office-based procedures, such as an upper eyelid blepharoplasty, necessitate several weeks of healing before you feel confident in your appearance. For non-surgical interventions like the Injecta-lift procedure which uses injectable fillers to reshape the face, account for a couple of weeks of some bruising and swelling. Not everyone has that experience but always plan for the worst and hope for the best.

Take care of yourself. Stay Healthy, Stay Beautiful!

Radiant Skin Newsletter: Spotlight on SCITON BBL® and MOXIE® Lasers

Welcome to this edition of the Radiant Skin Newsletter! Today, we’re diving into two powerhouse treatments revolutionizing skincare: the SCITON BBL® (BroadBand Light) and MOXIE® lasers. Whether you’re targeting aging skin, pigmentation, or seeking that healthy glow, these cutting-edge technologies have you covered.

SCITON BBL®: Transformative BroadBand Light Therapy

The SCITON BBL® is renowned as one of the most advanced phototherapy treatments available. It works by delivering light energy to the skin, targeting and improving:

  • Sun damage and age spots
  • Uneven skin tone and redness
  • Acne and vascular conditions
  • Fine lines and overall skin texture

This treatment not only repairs damage but also stimulates collagen production, promoting younger-looking skin. And here’s the best part: BBL has long-term benefits! Studies have shown that regular treatments can actually slow the aging process, keeping skin youthful over time.

MOXIE® Laser: The Gentle Glow-Up

MOXIE® is your go-to laser for preventative skin care and maintaining a radiant complexion. This gentle yet powerful laser rejuvenates the skin by addressing:

  • Uneven pigmentation and melasma
  • Texture irregularities
  • Early signs of aging
  • Sun damage

It’s perfect for all skin types and is often called the “lunchtime laser” because of its minimal downtime. Whether you’re prepping for a big event or just maintaining healthy skin, MOXIE leaves you with that coveted glow.

What to Expect

Both treatments are quick, comfortable, and customizable. You may experience some redness post-treatment, but recovery is minimal, and results are noticeable within days. Best of all, these lasers can be tailored to your unique skin concerns and goals.

Ready to reveal your best skin? Schedule a consultation today to learn how SCITON BBL® and MOXI® can transform your skincare routine.

From the West Cobb Office

The cold spell we’ve been having in Atlanta has me wishing for dewy, warm weather! If you’ve noticed your skin feeling drier, you’re not the only one. In addition to adjusting your skincare regimen to strengthen your skin barrier during this time, there are also injectable options that can leave your skin looking more hydrated and plump.

Skinvive is a great option for instant hydration. This hyaluronic acid injectable doesn’t provide volume like other fillers but will leave your skin looking hydrated and fresh for six months! If you’re really struggling with dry skin, give this one a shot.

Lip filler is also a great option for chronically dry lips. It can be done in a tasteful way, leaving your lips looking glossy and hydrated without appearing overfilled.

Schedule a consultation to discuss!
