From The Corner Office

We are all humbled by technology failures at one time or another. This is the world we live in. As a facial plastic surgeon, some of the most exciting advances in my field rely on new technologies. Many of you who have seen me for a consultation or have read previous newsletters know that Profound RF is such a device. This is an effective tool that stimulates new elastin production, creates snappier skin that behaves more youthfully, and improves both neck and jawline contour and skin texture. Along with the hundreds of patients I have treated, including my wife Valerie, I had the treatment almost five years ago and am still enjoying a better-looking neck than my genetics foreshadowed.

However, like any computer-controlled device with mechanical parts, occasionally it doesn’t work. This is both frustrating for us and would be very disappointing for those patients who have blocked out time to get it done and recover. Recently, a technician flew in from out of state to fix the machine. We were assured that after extensively testing the device and locating the fault, it worked perfectly. However, it came with the caveat that without actually using the device on a patient, the technician could not be 100% sure it was good to go. Without hesitation, my surgical coordinator Desiree said “I’m not going home tonight until we know it works. Numb my belly and test it, so we can be sure it’s fixed.” Now, if that is not the mark of a truly outstanding team member, I don’t know what is! Thanks, Desiree, for taking one for the team.

When you visit our offices, you may want to welcome our newest addition to the front office team, Karen Krause. She has been doing an outstanding job and shares her time between our Marietta and West Cobb locations. She is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish, and has been very helpful translating for our Spanish speaking patients.

As a follow-up to our recent introduction of SKINVIVE, the latest injectable designed to hydrate and rejuvenate skin, I have come to learn that this technology does much more than simply plump the skin for six months with a space-occupying gel. As is the case for many scientific discoveries, sometimes the experimental data surprises even those doing the research. In the case of SKINVIVE, we now know that it actually affects protein synthesis in dermal cells to increase skin cell membrane water channels known as aquaporins, which regulate water movement in and out of cells. Clinically, this results in improved skin hydration. With repeat treatments, these effects build up over time making future treatments even more effective than the initial treatment. From The West Cobb Office

Happy November! We are full on into fall and approaching the holiday season! There are many exciting things coming down the pipeline as we round up the year and I am so happy to share them with you! For starters, Skinvive by Juvederm is now available and is a great tool to combat the winter dry skin. This is an injectable treatment for all skin types and will work on hydration from the inside out. Your skin will look hydrated and glowing and just FEEL better! Everyone can benefit from this treatment and is a great add on to your botox regimen.

As I was sad to have to miss the October event this year due to a family commitment, I am happy to say that we are going to be having a West Cobb Event on Thursday, November 16th from 4-7pm. And finally, I will be opening a few dates in November for treatments with me in the Marietta office location.
